Most script reading services give you a general story analysis (known as coverage) that is good for agents, managers and producers who don't read scripts. This is only marginally helpful to the writer who's looking to improve his/her script.
I explore what works and what needs improvement through story, plot, character, dialogue, description, structure, conflict, goals, motivation, tone, inner/external conflict, etc. I even rewrite a bit of description and dialogue here and there to give an example on how it can be improved.
I've sold five screenplays and for the past couple years I've been writing and rewriting feature-length screenplays for writers, actors, directors, and producers.
I've worked on writing or rewriting over 30 screenplays to date and I've read over 3,000 screenplays as a script analyst and for screenwriting contests.
SCREENPLAY ANALYSIS RESULTS: I did an extremely detailed analysis of a script for a writer and they won $10,000 in the L.A. Comedy Scripts Screenplay Competition. I spent an hour and a half on their first page alone to help smooth out the kinks. I also analyzed a script for a writer then helped them rewrite the dialogue and they recently acquired one million dollars toward making their film.
