The Charge Nurse is responsible for the clinical management of the in:center dialysis unit and the supervision of all nursing personnel in order to ensure every patient receives the safest care with the highest quality optimal outcomes.The following is a summary of what makes our team successful. Primary Responsibilities:Coordinates with the Clinical Supervisor/Nurse Manager the scheduling of patients to ensure accommodations of all patients; matching patient needs with staff capabilities and experiences to maximize staffing resourcesAssists patient care staff as necessary in initiating, monitoring, and termination of dialysis treatmentsAssures the transcription and implementation of Physician ordersDirectly or indirectly makes appropriate referrals to all of the patients Health Care Team including but not limited to Dietitian, Social Worker, Physician and transplant center, as necessarySupervises initial and ongoing patient education; Review and document patient education as necessary to ensure compliance with ESRD Network, regulatory agencies, as well as DCIA?s CQI Program and the individual clinicA?s requirementsResponsible for obtaining consent forms and review of all information pertaining to the new patients prior to initiation of first dialysis treatmentCoordinate obtaining medical release forms and updating consent forms as municates patient problems to physician; implements and documents ordersOversees responsibility for monthly patient lab work in accordance with the clinicA?s policies and proceduresCollaborates with the Clinical Supervisor and/or the Nurse Manager in administrative and supervisory dutiesOversees primary nursing teams for completion of monthly assignmentsParticipates in patient care conferences, medical rounds, and reviewing chartsPractice safe and effective infection control procedures in accordance with the clinicA?s policies and proceduresAssists in the teaching and training of new staff members as directed and supervised by the Education Coordinator, the Clinical Supervisor and/or the Nurse Manager Education and Experience:Completion from an accredited Registered Nursing ProgramSix months experience in a dialysis is preferredExperience in critical care nursing is preferredExperience in a supervisory role is preferredDCI provides comprehensive hands:on and theory orientation/training in order to equip our nurses for success. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Possess and maintain a current license in the State as a registered nurse.Maintain current CPR certification.CNN (certified nephrology nurse) certification is encouraged.
