We use a CNC milling machine to reduce the face thickness on drivers creating more trampoline effect and distance. The reason for this increase is simple. All driver faces are designed to compress upon impact with the ball, then spring back once it has reached it's peak compression. This spring back is one of the determining factors in a club's COR rating or Coefficient of Restitution, which is a measure of it's transfer of energy. If allowed to compress more because of a thinner club face, it will spring back at a much higher rate, thereby increasing the COR and distance.
