Sierra Nevada Corporation's Communication, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management business is continuing to grow in support of its customers and seeks qualified and highly motivated individuals to join our team in Sparks, NV.

Senior Software Project Engineer, FAA Certification Lead, Sparks, NV Office
Candidate will lead an experienced and talented software development team in the software design for a new DO-178B Level B, FAA certified Enhanced Flight Vision System.
Tasks will require leading a strong software development team through a complete product development cycle ultimately yielding FAA certification for Enhanced Flight Vision capability comprised of non-TSO airborne radar systems.
Successful execution of these tasks requires detailed knowledge and experience in DO-178B software development meeting program schedules and budgets.
Candidate will assume the lead in the composition and presentation of formal design reviews, successfully meeting all entry and exit criteria for major presentations with customers.
Candidate will be intimately familiar with DO-178B development cycles and FAA certification processes, progressively advancing solutions through the planning, design, implementation, and testing phases including FAA certification. Specific tasks to be completed will include development of a PSAC, SDP, and SVP, support of SOI audits, selection and integration of COTS components such as BSP, RTOS, and graphics libraries, and management of subcontractors.
The Senior Software Project Engineer will generate detailed, measurable artifacts to evidence progress in support of key program milestones while directing the software team during the course of the development.
This will include an understanding of cost and schedule reporting and measurement leveraging the Earned Value system.
As part of the project leadership team, candidate will provide FAA Software support for marketing and proposal efforts as well as support development of long range technical strategies. Candidate will act as a key technical liaison with senior management and customer stakeholders.
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Candidate shall have 5+ years of relevant experience in DO-178B software development and project engineering and a proven record of obtaining FAA certification for Level B or higher software.
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. Degree, or higher, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
