FALL & WINTER: Fall is the favorite season of many to visit Pine Mountain Lake and Yosemite National Park. It is quiet & serene, as the crowds have all gone. It's a nice time for some serious R&R. The fresh mountain air is crisp, so bring your favorite sweater or hoodie for the cooler temps. Plan on reading that novel you've had your eye on, build a fire in the woodstove, pop some popcorn & watch a movie...or 2...or 3. Take some time to spend in the outdoors...there are lots of hiking trails, go sight-seeing, watch the local wildlife. There are plenty of restaurants in historic downtown Groveland and more activities in the nearby 49er towns of Jamestown, Sonora & Tuolume City (approximate 30 minutes from Pine Mountain Lake / Groveland). If you're a golfer, Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course is a public course, open year-round. Pine Mountain Lake is above the fog & usually below the snow. The Fall color in Yosemite National Park is a must see! And iceskating in the Winter in Yosemite is a memory you'll cherish forever. After iceskating, visit the famous Ahwahnee Hotel and have a mug of hot chocolate or hot cider in the lobby by the grand fireplace...its a cozy way to wrap up the day. HISTORIC DOWNTOWN GROVELAND: You'll find more Summertime fun in downtown Groveland, which is just 5-minutes from Pine Mountain Lake resort. Mountain Sage Coffee House & Plant Nursery offers a Farmer's Market on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. They also host live music on the weekends, so bring your lawn chair & plan on doing some dancing! Mountain Sage is the best place in town for a cup-o-joe...bring your laptop for free wifi and sit at one of the umbrella covered tables in the garden...what a perfect morning. Mary Laveroni Park hosts weekly flea markets and Movies Under The Stars every Saturday night in the summer. The Iron Door Saloon is California's oldest saloon and hosts live music on weekends. Helping Hands is the local thrift store...the locals refer to it as "Macy's on the hill", its definately a fun place to check out. There are over 10 restaurants in Groveland. There are planned events, festivals & charity BBQ's throughout the year. The 49er Festival & Parade is a huge event every September. Local merchants host a shop-to-shop Halloween trick-or-treat event for the kids and they deck the halls for Christmas! A little town with a big personality.
NEARBY THINGS TO DO: Just about 30-minutes from Pine Mountain Lake/Groveland, you'll find Jamestown & Sonora. Both quaint 49er towns with plenty of shopping, special boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and lots of history. Try gold-panning in historic downtown Jamestown and visit the Little Red Church in historic downtown Sonora. Columbia State Park is only a few minutes beyond Sonora. The historic 49er town has been well preserved and can be toured on any day of the week. Visit an old-time candy store in Columbia and see a play at the local theatre, The Fallon House. Sonora also has two Reperetory Theatres: Sierra Repertory & Stage 3. Want to see a movie? Sonora also has Regal Cinemas. Tuolumne City is also nearby where you will find Black Oak Casino. Black Oak Casino is kid-friendly, with a non-smoking level that offers a restaurant, arcade and great bowling alley.
